Building at 9 March Street, N16, Batumi
Brief Description of the Building:
This two-story building, constructed in the 20th century, is located in the densely built-up area of the street. The facade is designed in the Baroque style. On the right side of the first floor, there is a rectangular-shaped archway that leads into the inner yard. To the left, there is a door to the entrance. The first floor, which retains its original iron awning, features a wall surface that is horizontally grooved.
The second floor is particularly noteworthy in terms of decoration. This floor features eight arch-shaped openings (the two on the left are currently enclosed within a balcony and are not visible). These arches are flanked by grooved half-columns that end with Corinthian capitals, and a profiled arch passes over the top of the openings. In the center of the arch, there are sculpted mask-like decorations. The facade is crowned with a cornice supported by paired consoles, above which is a parapet decorated with rectangular sections. Three distinct balconies protrude from the second floor, adding to the ornate design of the building.
This building is an excellent example of Baroque-style architecture and contributes to the unique urban landscape and historical character of the area.
