Batumi, 29 Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Street / 43 King Pharnavaz Street
Brief Description of the Monument
Located at the corner of two streets, this building originally appears to have been a single-story structure set atop a high semi-basement. It seems that in recent years, a second story and a gabled roof were added. The decorative design of the second floor precisely mirrors that of the first.
The windows are rectangular, and at their upper sections, a single simple-profile frieze connects them horizontally. The centers of the window heads are accentuated with keystones. The first floor is topped with a protruding cornice. The area between the cornice and the windows is filled with rectangular panels featuring a rough-textured finish — a detail that is identically repeated on the newly added second floor.
Presumably constructed in the first half of the 20th century, the building is characterized by a certain simplicity and a sharply segmented façade. Within the urban fabric, it is a typical and modest architectural unit.
