Building at Alexander Samsonea Street N6 / Demetre Tavdadebuli Street N3, Batumi
Brief Description of the Building:
This small-scale two-story building, located at the intersection of two streets, was built at the end of the 19th century. The facades are designed in a classical-baroque style. The main facade faces A. Samsonea Street, and it is relatively long, with a slightly protruding rosette in the middle where the entrance door is located. Both floors are divided by rectangular windows. The windows on the second floor are topped with arched areas, into which shell-like decorative elements are inserted.
The floors are separated by a profiled cornice. The central columns on the second floor are adorned with pilasters, capped with dentilled capitals. On the shorter facade, facing Demetre Tavdadebuli Street, there is a wide metal balcony on the second floor. The first floor is divided by horizontal grooves in the plaster, creating a horizontal rhythm.
The base of the building is smooth, with a small, profiled belt. The building is topped with a prominent cornice, which is further adorned with a row of fine dentils. The eclectic facade of the building is characterized by its academic style.
