Building at Dimitri Tavdadebuli Street N10, Batumi
Brief Description of the Building:
This two-story corner building was constructed at the beginning of the 20th century in Renaissance-Classical style. The building is faced with Shirimi stone and stands out for its monumental appearance. Deeply incised lines create an imitation of stone masonry. The façades are richly decorated. The corners of the building are accentuated with slightly protruding risalits. The floors are separated by a profiled cornice. The first-floor surface is treated with rusticated pilasters, between which plain rectangular openings are inserted. Notably, the openings are identical in shape and are all rectangular.
The first, plain floor is followed by the second, which is decorated with more elaborate openings. In the risalits, there is a single window, framed by a thin, profiled frame and topped with an architrave-like header. In front of two side openings on the second floor, there is a strong, ornate iron balcony with an openwork railing, supported by powerful corbels. These balconied openings are topped with a pediment-like header.
This powerful and monumental building, executed in Renaissance-Classical style, is distinguished by its clear tectonic design and grand scale. It plays a significant role in the architectural composition of the area, marked by its impressive proportions and detailed decorative elements.
