Batumi, Revaz Komakhidze Street No. 4
Brief description of the monument:
Built in 1907–1909 by Artashek Sirian, an Armenian by nationality, this building stands prominently at the intersection of two streets. Its graceful proportions, miniature forms, and distinctive ship-like silhouette have made it a memorable setting for several famous films, including The Twelve Chairs (directed by Leonid Gaidai), Repentance (directed by Tengiz Abuladze), and An Unusual Exhibition (directed by Eldar Shengelaia).
Initially, the ground floor housed workshops, while the second and third floors, added later, served as residential spaces for the family. The dominant feature of the structure is its narrow, three-story corner volume, accented by an entrance staircase and a rounded balcony with metal railings, elegantly adapted to the street layout. The building’s modest façade decoration exhibits classical elements, making it an outstanding example of Batumi’s urban heritage.
