Batumi, Vaja-Pshavela Street N38
Brief Description of the Building:
Built in 1900, this house faces the street with its main façade. The first floor is divided by rectangular openings, while the second floor features arched openings—pointed arches in the central section and rounded ones at the edges. The third floor, likely a later addition, also has rectangular openings.
The plastered façade, painted gray, is modestly decorated. The window openings are framed with profiled surrounds marked by keystones. Rectangular shapes made of plaster appear beneath the windowsills, and the corner windows on the second floor are flanked by pilasters. The stringcourses and cornice between the floors are designed with simple profiles.
On the right side of the façade is an entrance vestibule, closed off by a decoratively carved wooden door. The left side of the wall includes an arched passage leading into the courtyard. The rear façade has completely lost its original architectural appearance.
The building is a characteristic example of its time and contributes to preserving the scale and historical character of this section of Vaja-Pshavela Street.
