Batumi, Vakhtang Gorgasali Street N57
Brief Description of the Building:
This one-story house, located at the given address, was built in the early 20th century and is a representative example of the type of residential architecture typical of Batumi during that time. The building has a square floor plan and presents its main plastered and painted façade toward Vakhtang Gorgasali Street. The façade is elevated on a rusticated plinth.
The fourth opening from right to left is the entrance door, covered by an arched wrought-iron canopy supported by ornate metal brackets. All the façade openings are arched and framed with decorative molding. The second opening from the right is also a door, created by expanding a former window opening.
The decorative elements of the façade feature Classicist stylistic traits. The façade is topped with a projecting cornice. The courtyard side of the building has lost its original appearance due to later modifications.
Although not distinguished by high artistic value, this neat house—bearing elements of Classicism—is well integrated into the “chamber-scale” development of the street and harmonizes effectively with the scale and character of the neighborhood.
