Batumi, Vakhtang Gorgasali Street N54 / Luka Asatiani Street N35
Brief Description of the Building:
This building is an example of 1950s Soviet architecture. It stands at the intersection of Vakhtang Gorgasali and Luka Asatiani streets. The structure is three stories high with a basement and has a rectangular floor plan.
The plinth section is decorated with ornamental plasterwork resembling rustication. The rest of the façade is plain and painted a yellowish tone. The façades are articulated with symmetrically arranged rectangular window openings. Each floor is separated by a slightly projecting profiled stringcourse. The building’s corners are highlighted with a sequence of plastered square blocks.
The windows are surrounded by lightly profiled frames. Below each window, on the wall surface, are rectangular panels with beveled corners. On the Asatiani Street side, the windows are arranged asymmetrically: three on the first floor, two on the second, and only one on the third. Their decoration mirrors that of the main façade windows.
On the Gorgasali Street side, the center of the façade features three wide, tall entrances. The balconies are symmetrically arranged on the upper two floors—three per floor. The rear façade, facing the courtyard, is completely undecorated. Two entrance halls are located on that side.
