TBC Bank Batumi Head Office
Address: Batumi, Zubalashvili Street N37
Brief Description:
The Batumi Railway Station (now TBC Bank Batumi Head Office) was built between 1889 and 1905 according to the design of architect V. Kartsov. Located on the perimeter of I. Chavchavadze and S. Zubalashvili streets, this elongated rectangular two-story building (formerly the railway station) is set apart from the surrounding buildings and is easily visible from all sides.
The facade is clad in light yellowish-pink and terracotta-colored stone, accented by rizalits (projections). The facade is divided by an alternating sequence of arched and rectangular openings. The building is topped with a strong profiled cornice, above which stands a decorative parapet with turret-like cornices, all finished with a sand-colored paint.
In 1934, the building underwent a reconstruction with a project by architect V. Derbinian. A one-story rectangular extension was added on the side of S. Zubalashvili Street, featuring a half-circular hall at its center.
Today, the building stands as one of the most remarkable examples of artistic style architecture in Batumi, showcasing high-quality craftsmanship and an important landmark in the city.
