Building at Akhmed Melashvili Street N22, Batumi
Brief Description of the Building:
This building, originally two stories, was later expanded with an attic (mansard) and is constructed from brown brick. It was likely built in the early 20th century. The building features slightly protruding risalits at the corners. In the right risalit, there is an arched passageway leading to the yard, and in the left, there is an arched entrance door. Another entrance door is located to the left of the arched passageway.
Arched window openings appear on the second floor of the risalits, while in the central part of the building, the window openings are designed with a rounded arch. The floors are separated by a simple-profiled string course. The windows are framed with slightly protruding brickwork with simple profiles, and above them, there are “keystone” stones crafted from the same brick.
The facade is connected along its entire length by a two-step frieze, leading to a two-step cornice with teeth. The cornice is situated beneath the newly added mansard floor, which extends out slightly.
This building is notable for its use of construction materials and the interesting effect achieved by the combination of its architectural elements. It stands out within the surrounding urban fabric of the street.
