Building at Giorgi Mazniashvili Street N32 / Parnavaz Mepe Street N35, Batumi
Brief Description of the Building:
This two-story house, built in the early 20th century in the Modernist style, was owned by the tobacco manufacturer Lazare Murad’s son Biniat-Oghli (Biniashvili). The building utilizes various construction materials, such as ceramic tiles, brick, and stone, resulting in a dynamic interplay of textures and colors across the facades.
The house is enclosed by a fence decorated with Modernist elements. The entrance to the yard is from Mazniashvili Street, leading to a large, ceremonial staircase that leads to the house s door.
The main structure of the building consists of a three-story tower-like volume (two floors and an attic), with an adjoining two-story section. The house is topped with a steep, overhanging roof supported by sturdy wooden brackets.
The facades are divided by arched, tapered, and rectangular window and door openings. The house is one of the finest examples of Modernist style, notable for its high level of craftsmanship and significant architectural and artistic value.
