Building at Dimitri Tavdadebuli Street N36, Batumi
Brief Description of the Building:
This two-story building, built at the beginning of the 20th century, is part of a dense urban development and is designed in a classical style. The building features a high basement, and its only wide façade faces the street, symmetrically decorated.
The main focal points of the façade are the two risalits on either side, each embellished with powerful rectangular pilasters, uniting both floors of the façade, and finished with Ionic capitals. A strong architrave spans over the pilasters. Between these pilasters is the entrance door, with a high, arched opening. Above it, on the second floor, there is a single rectangular window.
The rest of the façade is divided by rectangular windows, each framed simply. On the second floor, there are four iron-railed balconies symmetrically placed. The building is crowned with a strongly overhanging, profiled cornice, beneath which a series of small corbels are aligned.
This building is a noteworthy example of urban heritage, reflecting a key part of Batumi’s architectural history.
