33 Luka Asatiani Street / 69 King Pharnavaz Street, Batumi
Brief Description of the Building:
Constructed at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries, this is a one-story residential building of the Batumi-style bel étage type, prominently situated on the corner of two intersecting streets. The structure features a high basement level, with small window openings for the cellar and walls adorned with decorative plasterwork that imitates rusticated stone blocks with a textured finish.
The façade is decorated in a Classical-Baroque style. Smooth wall surfaces are divided by rectangular windows. Fluted pilasters run up the corners of the façade, and the windows are framed with profiled moldings that end in small Corinthian capitals. These capitals support a profiled cornice that serves as the window’s decorative header. Rectangular raised panels are placed both above and below each window.
The façade is topped by a slightly projecting profiled cornice, adorned with a row of small dentils and supported by ornamental brackets. Above the cornice is a parapet filled with ornate wrought iron railings, with rectangular panels decorating its surface. The parapet is rounded at the building’s corner.
The entrance to the building is located on the Pharnavaz Mepe Street side, at the far left corner of the façade. Above the doorway, the parapet is accentuated by a curved pediment featuring a sculpted lion s head. The building also includes a courtyard, where a balcony runs along the internal façade.
This structure is distinguished by its unique character and high level of craftsmanship.
