Batumi, Vaja-Pshavela Street N76
Brief Description of the Building:
This one-story house with a tiled roof was built in the late 19th century. It faces the street with a plastered façade. On the left side of the façade is a decoratively carved wooden entrance door. The remaining wall surface is divided by a row of rectangular windows, each framed with profiled surrounds. Rectangular plaster decorations are placed above and below the windows. A dentil course runs beneath the cornice, just under the low parapet.
A gate set against the left wall of the house leads into a lush, green courtyard. The rear façade is simple yet symmetrically arranged with rectangular openings and leaves a pleasant impression.
This intimate, greenery-filled house with a cozy inner courtyard is a fine example of the Batumi-style bel-étage residential home. It is particularly interesting from an urban planning perspective.
