Batumi, Vaja-Pshavela Street N74
Brief Description of the Building:
At this address, there are two rectangular-shaped buildings connected by an arched entrance leading into the courtyard. The decorative metal gate features the construction date—1896—and the initials of the owner: (М.) and (Ч.)
The buildings are arranged parallel to each other, with their short façades facing the street. The façade of the left-hand building is plastered and painted a light gray. Its corners are marked with pilasters featuring rusticated surfaces, and the cornice is adorned with a row of dentils. The arrangement of doors and windows on the wall has been heavily altered and has lost its original form.
In contrast, the right-hand building has preserved its original architectural appearance. It is divided by three arched openings (one of which is a door), framed with flat surrounds highlighted by keystones. Rectangular panels are located beneath the window sills. The window frames are original, as is the decoratively carved wooden door. Among the interior features, a metal stove is worth noting.
The long walls of the buildings, stretching along the courtyard, have been entirely modified and no longer hold architectural value.
Despite their small size, these houses serve as an interesting example of Batumi s late 19th-century architectural history.
