Batumi, Shota Rustaveli Street No. 13 / Nodar Dumbadze Street No. 6
Brief description of the monument:
This three-story corner building had its first floor constructed in 1892, while the second and third floors were added during different periods of the 20th century. The structure follows a Greek (Π) shape in plan. The eclectically decorated façades of the ground floor feature a series of rectangular openings, topped by ornamental radiating heads. The second floor is distinguished by arched window openings accented with keystones and flanked by pilasters. Profiled inter-floor cornices are accompanied by rows of dentil motifs.
The rounded corner of the building is crowned by a high parapet. All façades include vertically aligned balconies with ornate metal railings. The third floor was added several years ago and mirrors the decorative scheme of the second floor. The courtyard-facing rear walls have undergone extensive alterations, significantly altering their original appearance.
Despite the chronological differences between the building’s construction phases, its street-facing main façades maintain a unified eclectic Renaissance-style appearance. This building harmoniously integrates into the streetscape, contributing significantly, together with neighboring structures, to defining the architectural character of the avenue.
