Batumi, Vakhtang Gorgasali Street N44 / Nikoloz Baratashvili Street N28
Brief Description of the Building:
This two-story house, built in the early 20th century, stands at the intersection of two streets. Its plastered façades are painted a yellowish-sand color, with contrasting architectural elements in pink. The first floor, designed in the Art Nouveau style, features wide arched openings. The central wall sections are flanked by pilasters with rustication imitation. At the top of the pilasters, on both sides, are sculpted vases decorated with flowers. Sunflowers adorn the center of the arched lintels above the openings.
The second floor is articulated with rectangular windows, flanked by deep-relief pilasters ending in Ionic capitals. Each façade features a wrought-iron balcony. The building is topped with a stepped cornice adorned with dentils.
At the same address, there is also a one-story house built in 1892, which faces only Vakhtang Gorgasali Street. Notable among its architectural details are the sculpted relief decorations framing the openings. For example, above the entrance to the courtyard, just below the inscription of the construction year, a cup is encircled by three fire-breathing dragons.
Both buildings play a significant role in shaping the historic architectural character and urban fabric of these intersecting streets.
