41 Luka Asatiani Street, Batumi
Brief Description of the Building:
This two-story building was constructed in the early 20th century and is located within a densely built urban area. The main structure is made of brick, while the base features roughly hewn stone blocks. The brick façade remains unplastered.
On the left side of the façade, the ground floor contains a tall, rectangular passageway leading to the inner courtyard. The façade is articulated by door and window openings, all of which have flattened arches. The ground-floor openings are unadorned, while those on the second floor are decorated with pediment-like headers and brickwork imitating keystones.
The building is topped with a prominent cornice, below which runs a row of large dentils. A single wrought iron balcony projects from the center of the second floor.
The entrance hall is adorned with stucco ornamentation, and remnants of decorative painting are preserved on the walls and ceiling. The building’s simple rhythmic façade composition and use of well-established decorative elements link it to typical examples of brick residential houses from the late 19th to early 20th centuries.
