Batumi, Iakob Gogebashvili Street N3
Brief Description of the Monument:
This modest building is an example of Soviet architecture, built in 1962 based on the design by architects Kremlyakov, Golovin, and Novikov. Located by the seaside, it is a two-story plastered reinforced concrete structure, painted in light blue and white, with a long rectangular floor plan. Its façades face both the sea and the street.
A central cubic volume is accentuated by an additional floor that is crowned with a spire-topped lantern structure, resembling a lighthouse. The central sections of the building’s short façades feature arched entrances. On the seaside, the edges of the façade include pentagonal projections in plan. The side wings on this same (seaside) elevation are opened with two-story-high arched openings.
On the street-facing side, the volume is divided into two sections.
The building is considered one of the architectural landmarks of Batumi’s seaside district and stands as a noteworthy example of Soviet architecture.
