Batumi, Khulos Street No. 23
Brief description of the monument:
This single-story building, situated on a high semi-basement, is likely from the early 20th century. The right side of the building has likely been altered as a result of later renovations. The façade is divided by arched openings, which are framed with simple moldings. However, the main floor and door openings are decorated with additional plant-based ornaments that run along the entire molding. In the center of the arches, there are plant-motif keystone stones.
The semi-basement and main floor are separated by two horizontal friezes, with rectangular elements filling the space between them. The house’s cornice is adorned with a vegetal frieze. The entrances of the building have decorative wooden doors, with the right entrance featuring a metal canopy.
On the right side of the building, an arched passageway leads to the courtyard, with a slight relief depiction of a man s head in the middle of the arch.
The building is located in the narrow, dense urban development of Khulos Street. While it lacks high construction techniques and elaborate façade ornamentation, its proportions and scale harmonize well with the street s dimensions, making it a notable structure in the urban development of the area.
