Batumi, Demetre Tavdadebuli St. N10
Brief Description of the Building:
This two-story building, constructed at the beginning of the 20th century, is integrated into the narrow urban development of the street. The building is made of dark gray stone blocks. The façade is designed in the Renaissance-Classical style and is plastered. Architectural details such as the profiles of the openings and decorative motifs are rendered in plasterwork.
The basement section of the façade is completely plain, with small windows of the entrance placed in it. Both stories of the building are horizontally scored. The rhythmically arranged rectangular openings on the façade are framed with classical, profiled surrounds, "key stones," horizontal lintels, and other details. The entrance door is located in the center of the façade. Above it, the second floor of this section is emphasized by an arched window and a curved section of the parapet that forms part of the fronton.
This residential building is noteworthy both from an urban planning and artistic perspective. The building’s proportions and restrained decoration are organically integrated into the urban development.
