35 Memed Abashidze Street, Batumi
Brief Description of the Monument:
This single-story house with a high basement floor, which houses a cellar, is well integrated into the urban fabric of the street. Currently, the building has undergone significant changes, with some windows converted into doors. The right wing of the building has been adapted for use as a shop. The façades are plastered. The central part of the building has an entrance, which is topped with a currently dilapidated, metal canopy supported by decorative brackets and a pediment. The entrance is flanked by rectangular windows, which are accentuated by rectangular frames filled with plant motifs.
The surface of the façade is treated with horizontal grooves. The building is crowned with a simple, tooth-patterned cornice, beneath which there is a broad meander-patterned band. Part of the roof is covered with tiles, while another part is covered with slate. Inside, the ceiling of the entrance hall is adorned with a plastic rosette.
The building is executed in a classical style and is a typical urban structure from the late 19th-early 20th centuries, fitting harmoniously into the surrounding urban development.
