Batumi, Vaja-Pshavela Street N32 / Zurab Gorgiladze Street N19
Brief Description of the Building:
This two-story stone building, specifically designed as a six-grade school, was constructed in 1901 based on a project by military engineer Pomorski. The V-shaped corner building has facades facing both streets. The beveled corner is accentuated by a metal balcony on the second floor and a three-part parapet. The decoration of the plastered facades is restrained. The main wall surfaces, painted blue, are articulated by rectangular openings topped with arched lintels marked by keystones. The middle sections of the walls are framed with flat, wide pilasters featuring grooved surfaces. The courtyard-facing facades have lost their original architectural appearance.
The corner building plays an important role in the spatial organization of the two streets, defining their scale and contributing to the preservation of the historical urban fabric.
