Roman festival, organized by the Cultural Heritage Protection Agency of Adjara, was traditionally held in Gonio Fortress. The event aimed to revive the Roman epoch and lifestyle occurring in the fortress territory.

The festival represented everyday life of Roman soldiers in the I-III c. The spectators viewed the antique theatrical-choreography spectacle, gladiators battles, Roman dances, antique frescos, Roman clothes, Roman cuisine.

The admission to the festival was free and the historical fortress of Gonio hosted many local and foreigner visitors.
