On July 28, 2020 with the funding of Adjara cultural heritage preservation agency, archeological expedition of Petra Fortress resumed.Work is underway in the northern and western sections of the prison area. In recent years , during the agency funded archeological excavations , rich archeological materials dating back to the VI century 95 silver coins were discovered on the teritorry of the Fortress. In parallel with the archeological study ,the Agency is carrying out rehabilitation works of fortress-town.In recent years, rehabilitated soth-western,eastern wall and corridor area. In 2018 ,the works of the first stage of Petra infrastructure were completed . Last year the construction of adupted pathsa visitor center,exhibition building s and a parking lot began on the territory of the prison.Works budjet is 2,220,000 GEL and its ongoing now as well and will last untill December 2020.
