The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of Adjara, Maia Khajishvili and Head of the Cultural Heritage Preservation Agency of Adjara, Zaur Akhvlediani visited the Roman barrack analogue building on the territory of Gonio-Apsaros, construction of which has recently finished.
This will be a new exhibition space allowing visitors of Gonio Fortress to view the “revived” lifestyle of Roman soldiers.
A room of an officer-in-command, a bedroom of soldiers, weapon storage, a Roman kitchen and other storage rooms will be arranged in the building.
At the same time, the works for the renovation of the Gonio-Apsaros exhibition space and the arrangement of the new museum space in Petra Fortress are in progress. The artefacts found in Gonio Fortress and Petra Fortress will be exhibited in these museums.
The works will be completed in the summer of the current year.
