The archaeological field works were continued on the three areas of the territory of Pichvnari old cemetery (the head of the expedition Prof. Amiran Kakhidze); the first area is Greek Necropolis of V c. BC; the area excavated in 2013 was widened and 18 burials were found. The grave goods discovered reveal that the first Greek settlers belonged to the lower class. The second area is a Colchian burial of IV c. BC, located between the burials of the Classic and Hellenistic periods. According to this burial, the Hellenistic processes become deeper between the local classes of the society. The third area of the field works is a burial from the Hellenistic period, which was excavated in 2015 and the works were continued. This burial reveals the radical changes in the demography of the society, the number of settlers is increased. The contours of more than 20 burials and 4 ritual places were found.
130 000 GEL were allotted in this regard this year from the budget of the Agency.
