On the occasion of the International Day of Monuments and Historical Sites, the 2nd International Seminar on "The real situation, problems and prospects of Black Sea cultural heritage monuments" was organized by the Agency of Cultural Heritage Preservation of Ajara.
The seminar was presented on the results of research on cultural heritage monuments located in the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Tao-Klarjeti and occupied Abkhazia. Georgian and foreign specialists from Great Britain, Poland, Turkey and Italy participated in this seminar.
The event was finished with an exhibition where paintings on Abkhazian cultural monuments were represented. The exhibition also included paintings created by the artists from Batumi.
Amiran Kakhidze, Anzor Javelidze and Maia Chichileishvili were awarded for the contribution to the protection of cultural heritage.
The ethnographical “corner” was arranged where traditional Ajarian dish "Borano" was prepared, the procedure and tradition of which was awarded the status of the intangible cultural heritage monument by initiative of Ajara Cultural Heritage Preservation Agency in 2019.
Tornike Rizvadze, Head of Ajarian Government, Chairmen of the Supreme Councils and Ministers of Education and Culture of Ajara and Abkhazia, Batumi Mayor, representatives of Ajarian government and parliament and other invited guests attended the event.
