In the current year, on the initiative of the Cultural Heritage Preservation Agency of Ajara Autonomous Republic and with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the rehabilitation of Saint Khino Church has begun. Tender winner “Construction Restoration Company” is working on its rehabilitation. 99 000 Gel will be spent on the rehabilitation works. Saint Khino Church is located in the Gorge of the River Kintrishi, 45 km far from Kobuleti. Presumably, the church was built in the 19th century. Historical references about Khino for the first time are met in the period of Vakhushti Bagrationi. The church was destroyed at the time of Ottoman invasion in the 18th century; partially destroyed church underwent an earthquake later in the 70s of the 19th century.
Rehabilitation works were inspected by the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Ajara Inga Shamilishvili and the Acting Director of the Cultural Heritage Preservation Agency of Ajara Lasha Aslanishvili.
