The archaeological seminar, organised by the Cultural Heritage Protection Agency of Adjara, was held in respect of the International Day of Monuments and Sights. The seminar was dedicated to remembering famous archaeologists – Amiran Kakhidze and Shota Mamuladze.
The seminar was started by the Head of the Agency – Zaur Akhvlediani, who spoke about the significance of the International Day of Monuments and Sights, the deceased archaeologists and their contribution to the study of this region, as well as, the historical past.
The conference was attended by the Chairman of the Government of Adjara – Tornike Rijvadze, the Chairman of the Education, Science, Culture and Sport issues Committee of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara - David Batsikadze and representatives of various fields.
The researchers from Batumi, also from other regions of Georgia participated in the Seminar. The submitted papers concerned with the actual issues of Georgian archaeology and included various thematics – from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. Special attention was drawn to the latest researches and studied monuments.
