At the initiative of the Ajara Cultural Heritage Preservation Agency ,by the decision of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia , "Octupus" was granted the status of a cultural heritage monument. Rehabilitation works of the " Octopus" were completed in 2019. Large-scale rehabilitation works of cafe "Fantasia" ("octopus") were carried out by the "Cartu" foundation in 2017-2019. It should be noted ,that since 2000 the building has not been functioning due to severe damage .The building has retained its old look,covered with mosaics. A fountain was restored in the surrounding area and access paths were arranged. Cafe "Fantasy" was opened in Batumi Boulvard in 1981. Mosaic building was designed by architect Giorgi Chakhava and artist Zurab Kapanadze.
